For a winters birthday

I often think in the run up to Christmas card manufacturers seem to think people don't have birthdays and as we have a few birthdays in the run up to and just after Christmas I am so happy I make my own cards.

I made this for my son to send to his Gran, he likes sending cards but they have to be non fussy or girly even when they are for a girly recipient.

I decided to go white on white and keep it clean and simple. I used a memory box die for the sentiment and added white glitter card behind it.You can see the glitter card behind the text in close up here.

I remember seeing a card very similar on the internet sometime last year think it was Lorraine's loft blog and the design stuck in my mind as it was so lovely. I know my design isn't quite the same as I hand cut my balloon and I'm not sure whether Lorraine used glitter card or not so hopefully its not too alike but thank you Lorraine for the inspiring design idea.

I used white satin ribbon for the tie on my balloon and tucked the end on the ribbon under the sentiment to ground it and stop flying away. The balloon was hand cut from glitter paper before being attached to the base card.

The card was a hit with my son and his Gran so mission was a success and in my book that's all that matters.

Snowy wishes

More Christmas cards quick and simple . Both cards have white base cards and use 3 panels of patterned paper to create a base layer for die cut snowflakes using docrafts xcut dies in white glitter paper on the top card and blue glitter card on the lower card. The greeting on the top card was a magazine freebie from several years ago.

Not spectacular cards but for multi production cards for acquaintances or hubby and sons work colleagues not friends they are quick and easy to produce and quite acceptable.

veggie good birthday

I was lucky enough to win some stamps from Memory box and thought using them would be a fun way to wish my 15 year old nephew happy birthday, its such a hard age to make cards for especially when hes's into cycling and I've exhausted my cycling stamps to death.
I used promarkers to colour the images and then fussy cut them out. I do think they are rather cute.I had fun arranging them trying to make them look balanced.
I used some green card to cut a grand happy birthday die from poppystamps and placed it on the base of my landscape white card before arranging the veggies over and around the sentiment.

The stamps have some fun sentiments in the set so I used one on the outside of my card , stamped below the happy birthday and embossed using  moonglow powder.

I think it turned out quite well really .

I hope my nephew will get the joke and recognise the stamped images inside as tomatoes and get the joke corny as it is but that's half the fun .

Hedgehog party fun

I  am so loving the fun cards you can make with these poppystamps cottage fence dies and base with the added bonus that they fold flat for posting at the normal rate too.

I decided a bright and fun birthday card for my sister who has a birthday this month, but no worries she dosen't check out my blog so she'll not see the card early.

I used a penny black stamp as the foal image and once coloured with promarkers and the balloons made to shine with sakura glaze pens fussy cut them out.

I cut the base and side panels from green card.
I used a memory box tree die Alessandria and cut 2 out and coloured them with promarkers. I created a third tree like a fir tree ti stick in the middle, I did try 3 trees the same but it just didn't look right.
I created some bunting and added a happy birthday sentiment to them before sticking in place. The trees were positioned and stuck in place on the back fence ensuring that their overalll height didn't exceed the sixe of the envelope I intended to use. I completed the trees by adding a stamped patchwork pals owl again coloured with promarkers.

On the side panels I completed the scene by stamping and colouring with promarkers and sakura glaze pens more hedgehogs, I had this picture in my mind of mum and dad at the front , mischievous children in the middle and older children bringing up the rear of the family procession. I again fussy cut the images out and stuck to the front of the fence panels.

To support the balloon I used some acetate , love acetate packaging as it is always a little stiffer than craft acetate I find and it allowed me to give the impression of the balloon floating without having card there to support it.

That led to the idea of making the naughty children being able to fly ,I used the acetate to create strips which I folded so they formed a hollow cube. I stuck these to the base card and then the baby hedgies at different heights on the cubes to give the appearance that they are bouncing or floating along . By making the acetate that shape it still folds flat and fits in the envelope with ease.
