get well butterflies

 Happy St Patrick's day to anyone who celebrates. 

My card today is a get well card for a gent. I know butterflies aren't normally a guy thing but I decided these pretty little brown ones would be acceptable by the male gender.

The die is from Memory Box and called fairyland butterflies and I did originally cut it from yellow card. I attached to a white base card and I filled in the recesses with different glitters working dark to light colours. 

I decided I didn't like the yellow so I used the negative from the die cut as a mask and coloured the butterfly outlines with a brown promarker after the glitter had dried.

I wanted to make the card a little different after seeing a similar card on outside the box blog so drew a line across the card top to bottom midway across the card and then fussy cut around the butterflies on one side of the line and removed the white card on that half of the card also.  

I finished the card with some hand drawn faux stitching around the front and inside of the card and added a get well sentiment by the dark room both with the same brown promarker I used to colour the butterflies.

Dotty birthday

I am loving my new dies and these 2 are no exception The border and large rings from memory box , and I am trying new techniques combining dies and stamping.

I saw this technique on poppy stamps blog by sue Mcree and thought it was different and looked fun. I used a square  white base card and used the negative of the dies as stencils and a pencil with a rubber on the end for my stamp.I used 3 different inks teal,cocoa and gold and the pencil rubber to make the circles.

Once I had filled the areas with randomly placed dots I glued the die cuts in place.

I finished the card with a die cut happy birthday from Britannia dies in turquoise mirri card.

Happy Spring love this Penny Black stamp it's just such a fun happy image. I coloured it with promarkers after stamping with momento ink on an oval die cut.

I used an embossing folder that was a freebie on a magazine. I love embossing its sort of magical as is wet embossing too. I couldn't decide which I preferred so I decided to use both. I wiped versamark ink over the folder and dry embossed then sprinkled with moonglow hyacinth jade embossing powder. 

I dry embossed another piece of card with the same folder and I coloured the centers of the flowers and stalks with promarkers.

I completed the card with 2 ribbons ,plain green and yellow daisies overlaying one and the other.

Rusted cogs

I love these cogs or gear dies by memory box and was fascinated by the tutorial by Dave on outside the box blog but also disappointed as I don't use copics and the refills are a little expensive just to experiment. 

I don't have alcohol inks in similar colours either so I had to improvise with my promarkers.

I used sadle brown,raw sienna, verdigis and grey green and a graphit marker turquoise for anyone interested. I simply scribbled randomly on the cogs.

 I got the shine on the cogs by adding sakura clear gel pen over the surface.

For the sentiment I used decor celebrate from poppystamps . I again randomly scribbled the promarkers onto white card big enough for the die and once cut again topped with sakura clear gel pen.

I experimented with the layout on both a kraft and a white base card and couldn't decide so I asked hubby which he preferred , well he is a man. I went with just randomly placed individual cogs rather than  connected and I think it works quite well.

My favourite season...

...has to be summer, I love the sunshine and the long days and the chance to spend lots of time outdoors.

I love this image from Aurora wings, the Himalayan poppies remind me of summer. I coloured the image with promarkers and then fussy cut the image out.

I used this fab die from Memory box large ringlets, I stuck it to a white base card, I used a glue pen but would love to hear what you use to attach your intricate die cuts.

I added a few clear gem rhinestones and another card finished.

Another LOTV stamp. Annabelle having a tug of war with her canine friend, but its obviously spring or summer in the UK as there's puddles!

I coloured this fun image with promarkers and stuck to a pink palate as i had a special young lady in mind when I made the card and she's definitely a pink girl.

I tried so hard to make it a bit more fussy card by adding ribbons,pearls and flowers but in the end only the ribbons made it onto the card. I coloured cream satin ribbon with the same promarker i used for Anabelles wellies and coat , and the edges of the image too, so a perfect match.

I hand tied 2 wee bows.

The layout is my interpretation of the kraftin Kimme monthly sketch. Think I'm addicted to clean and simple now too.

Paper pieced gift

I seem to be in LOTV stamp mode of late.

This time I did less colouring and only used my promarkers for skin and hair. I did try to paper piece both these as well but I couldn't get his hair right and I didn't have quite the right shade of paper for his skin.

The string is sakura gel pen and the tag is again from LOTV.

It turned out to be another CAS card told you I was getting addicted. Think I am going to have to try really hard and use some of the pretty papers I treated myself to last year.

Easter bunny wishes

I do love my lily of the valley stamps and they are probably some of my most used stamps.I coloured this cute we bunny with promarkers. I had stamped the image on a die cut circle with stitched edge.

I stamped the dark room happy Easter sentiment in versamark ink and heat embossed with blue violet moonglow powder.

The layout was completed with some lily of the valley paper.

This stamp was one of the first I bought, its from the stampman and was part of a large A4 sheet.

 I stamped 3 images on a piece of white card I had die cut fancy corners out of.

I coloured the images with promarkers.

I kept the card simple by adding mirri-card behind the die-cut areas.

 I mounted this onto a white base card and the card is finished. I really does feel like I'm cheating but I am so liking the clean and simple look.

My mother's day gift from my wonderful son was money for some dies, lucky me.

I love this daisy die from memory box. I cut out in white card and coloured the base and stems with holly promarker. The flower centres were coloured with lime green promarker.

I used another die to make a stencil and stamped through the holes with Versamark ink and then sprinkled with green sparkle embossing powder. I brushed over the un-heated embossing powder gently with a dry paintbrush before heating and the result was a distressed looking set of sparkly dots.

I added the die cut flower and stuck that to a green base card adding a simple knotted ribbon.I haven't added a sentiment as I think it could be used for several different occasions so will add when needed.

Citrus butterflies

Love these butterflies and a super quick way to make a stunning card too.

For this card I started with a white base card and used a reverse butterfly die from memory box to cut the image.

I used another piece of white card and scribbled blobs or promarker colour on it in lime, yellow and orange.

I then adhered the coloured card to the inside of the die cut card and the card is finished.                                                                                                        I can add whatever sentiment I like and I could have added ribbon but I love it just as it is ,it reminds me of fresh spring days and just makes me smile.

Lucky Cats

I have decided to use some of my stamps that rarely see the light of day and this cute LOTV stamp lends its self so well to clean and simple style. I coloured with different shades of grey promarker and sakura silver gel pens, then fussy cut the image.

I simply stuck the image to a white base card, i do it this way rather than stamping and colouring straight onto the card as promarkers tend to soak through and even when lined you can sometimes glimpse the marks and I don't like that. I finished the card with a peel-off sentiment and my card is finished.
