My new sugar nellie country cousins stamps just seemed perfect for my mum's birthday card, and even though it is the first of december I decided to use them and colour it to her favourite season autumn. I think it will definitely brighten what usually proves to be a cold dull day weather wise, and hopefully by then I should be nearly back to being able to drive and start to get out and about and start thinking about some christmas shopping, although not sure what to get evryone. I find it really hard getting hubby anything as if he finds something he wants he just goes and buys it. Last year we got our son a camera which he loves but he did say he really didn't want anything and told me not to bother putting up the tree or any decorations as he really wasn't that bothered as he was 'just happy that he would be spending time with family , which afterall mum that's what christmas is about.' I think I need some divine inspiration this year as he's just bought himself a new phone and says there is absolutely nothing he wants, just some money to put towards a new laptop when his present one konks out, but for now its ok for school. He won't let on which he has in mind so we can't even go and get it for him, sign he's growing up I suppose. Gone are the 4 o clock early christmas mornings, in fact when it got to 9;30 last year I was the big kid who told him he'd got to get up as I wanted to open my presents that he'd bought me, reluctantly he got up, where has my baby gone?
Anyway sorry for sentimentallity getting in the way, back to my card.
I made a tr-ishutter card and it took me ages to get all the folds right, I thought it would be easy as last time I made one it was so straight forward so heaven only knows what I was doing wrong this time, but I did succeed eventually.
I used some basic grey papers to cover the sections, not sure what set they are from as they were a rak but I thought they were quite autumny. I stamped the little oak sprig from the autumn sugar nellie set around the cream card I used for my writing sections and added some images I'd coloured with promarkers, as with the other images too. I thought these images were perfect as mum gets quite a few squirrels in her garden and she spends loads of time watching them pinching things from the bird table, though she does get a little cross when they dig up her plants to burry things. Last sprig she found several hens eggs burried, not fun when they've been there all winter and you dig into it and especially when you thought it was walnuts the squirrel had burried.
I finished my card off with a few simple peeloff sentiment stickers. Have to say initially I wasn't sure I liked this card, probably as I'm not keen on reds and yellows together but it is growing on me, just hope mum likes it. Now to put it somewhere safe that I'll remember!
