Flutterby time

I love this quirky stamp it makes me think of some time travelling sci-fi the name of which totally eludes me , but its somehow hypnotic.
I am quite addicted to the masking and water-colouring technique as those who have been following my blog recently have no doubt surmised and these 2 cards are more of the same. That apart I love how different colouring can really change the look and feel of the image even though the focal image is really similar in colouring.

Both cards were created using the same technique, the central image stamped in stazon and then masked with pebeo masking fluid. The background was then created using distress oxide inks and faux bleaching using water and kitchen paper. the images were then cleared of masking fluid and painted with aquablend pens.

The cards were then matt and layered using purple mirri-card on white base cards and to say the only major colouring difference is the background I love how different the 2 cards look.

House Mouse Challenge

I was lucky enough to be a winner at House Mouse challenge and part of the prize is to be guest designer for the next couple of months challenges. The first challenge is lots of images, now I don't have that many House mouse stamps but I do have a CD and a decoupage book so my GDT cards will be a mix of all 3 .The decoupage book I decided would fit the lots of images challenge perfectly but all my images are cut up to various parts and stacked on top of each other sandwiched together with little sticky pads.

I used my image to make an easel card using white card and more images to decorate the bottom layer but also create the stop for the easel part of the card.

Why not pop over to HMAF and play along

hello clean and simple

I love Clean and Simple though I still feel as though I'm cheating a little . I made this card using Poppystamps dies simply cut in white as my focal image.

The background I made using my new glitter pens using 2 shades of green and a little glycerine it really gives a lovely finish ,it's just a pity the photos don't show the glittery sheen it gives. I used a faux bleaching technique to add a white sprinkling of dots for added textural interest.

I finished the card by mounting the layer onto a white base card.

Mousey love

I recently made a purchase fro Jonna Sheene and had to choose a free gift so I chose some house mouse decoupage papers. I think this image is so cute and has many uses from Valentine's day to love you, anniversary or that you simply care about someone too.

I used a cream base card made with a die-sire create a card die. I decided to extend the image over the central circle so even when the card is open there is still some points of interest.

I finished the card by adding some blended distress oxide inks to give a rustic vintage aged feel to the base card.

Daisy golden swirl

I love daisies, had them for my wedding bouquet, and white ones are top of my list. I therefore love this die from memory box tilth.

I used a joy flourish die and cut it in gold mirri card to use as my base for my daisy.

The petal centres I removed from the outline and stuck them to the centre on the underside and curled the petal outlines upwards.

I found some fab flower centres on amazon that work perfectly with the daisy.

I took a square base card and using peel offs created a frame.
I added the swirl flourish and daisy and card done.
I figured I could add a sentiment to the top right corner to fit the occasion I decide to use it for as I think it would be suitable for many occasions including birthdays ,anniversaries, get well, thank you or even sympathy.

Pussy cat Love

Not a traditional Valentine's card but one I thought would make my son smile as he has a  cat who he loves and who runs rings around him too. I tried to colour my image to look like her though she is far prettier than this pussy who to me looks a little disgruntled with something, maybe wearing a heart around its neck.

The image is coloured with promarkers and I then masked the image whilst I used distress oxide inks to create the background.

The card is made using the outer circle die of an easel card Die-sire die set cut in yellow card. I finished the card with some small heart die cuts from poppy stamps again coloured with Promarkers.

Primrose wishes

A cute image from Aurora wings coloured with promarkers.

The papers are from my stash not sure of the brand as no longer have the packaging so few sheets left but works perfect with this image.

The card base is die-sire from Crafter's Companion as is the border die cut from white card.

The sentiment is a gold peel off .It's a light weight card that will be travelling to my mum-in-law in Tenerife.

Pastel love hearts

I found some dies on Amazon that were considerably cheaper as they aren't well know brand names so I thought I'd give them a try. They took a while to arrive but I think it was worth it as they cut really well and this one is so pretty.

I decided to use both the positive and the negatives (the  out cuts) . I decided to keep the same shape as the die as I think its pleasing to the eye.

I firstly coloured a piece of card using distress inks in pinks  and purples and water to get a soft random effect. I then cut the the die. I then cut it a second time in plain white card.

I used some centura pearlised white card cut into 2 A5 cards. I added the white die cut full circle to one card and then the coloured die cut atop so it was slightly raised from the base.

The second card I again built using stacks but this time using the negatives but not for all the hearts. I used the die as a template to create the shape adding a couple of hearts to the sides.

I haven't added a sentiment as I think these cards would be great for Valentine's day, anniversary, engagement or even wedding or birthday but I do love how they turned out.

loves breeze

An anniversary card this time for a couple living overseas so it had to be kept small and light weight otherwise they have to go to the airport to collect it.

I decided to use and combine a couple of dies from Memory box and poppystamps . I used the floral breeze but where the flowers are add hearts that I had layered to give a chipboard effect but not too thick. Once stacked I coloured with promarkers.

I added deep pink card behind to show through the holes.

I stamped the sentiment again using pink promarker and a darkroom sentiment stamp.

Bunnies not just for Easter.

I love white on white cards and just wanted to play. I decided to take my inspiration from the weather and as it was snowing white on white was definitely order of the day.

I used a selection of dies from memory box and a diorama  that I'd made a while ago that was on my craft room windowsill.

I used  a white base card and gate fold design. I cut a window in the large section of the card  which will be the front of my card, I cut another rectangle this time in vellum and adhered it to the front of my card.

I cut several large fir trees again in white and adhered one to the back of the vellum and cut one  in half sort of and adhered these to the front of  my card.I cut some meadow grass and bunnies in various sizes and created more layers with bunnies in between the layers.
I finished the card using crafter's companion silver glitter pen which I liberally coloured  over the trees and bunnies and grass.

I haven't added a sentiment but think this could be an early made Christmas card or perfect for a winter birthday.
I love the effect it gives when the light shines through from the back.

Fore!

I don't normally colour my cards with my pencils but wanted a different look , don't get me wrong I love my alcohol markers but they do have the problem of showing on the reverse of the card you are colouring. I used a kraft base card and stamped the golfer image directly onto the card in black ink and coloured with my oil based pencils, love the shine they have.

I stamped the golf bag onto white card again in black ink and again coloured with pencils then fussy cut the image out. I wanted to create the effect that the golf bag was more in the foreground.

I finished the card with a blue peel-off 'happy birthday'. Another quick CAS card and perfect for the golfing recipient.

Snowflakes

I love these £D folders from crafters companion and the big die is also from there too and the matching stamps. I used this fab centura pearlised card and after embossing layered onto a plain white card base.

The word die 'snowflakes' I cut in holographic mirri-card and then on plain white card I stamped the accompanying sentiment in plain black ink. All in all a quick CAS card that I think has a bit of wow factor too.

words of encouragement

I found some fab stamps by Sheena Douglas at Crafter's companion and just had to make something with them, we all know someone who sometimes needs a kick up the rear to get them motivated for something or just to show them that life is really not that bad and there is always a way to solve problems no matter how big they seem.

I decided to use this stamp first as especially with the dull winter weather it would be so easy to hibernate.

I stamped in versamrk ink and used violet obsidian moonglow embossing powder, it doesn't show very well on the photo but it looks black until it catches the light and then looks purple. I stamped on white card and once I'd embossed the words I used distress inks to create the soft background.

Once the ink had dried learning from my mistake as I tried the next bit before I'd left it long enough and covered the whole thing with the next embossing powder) I used a hero Arts dandelion stamp and stamped again in versamark ink and embossed with stardust embossing powder. It gave such a delicate effect that when I put it in the frame it wasn't really visible. I enhanced the dandelion clocks using  another distress ink this time winter spruce and not ever so accurately stamped over the embossed dandelion clocks. I really love how they turned out.

The frame is one I have had for ages from IKEA, it was just plain wood but I used some glitter gel paint for glass to colour it just as an experiment and love the textured look it created with the sparkle too, I finished it with some butterflies I won from squirrels not so random challenge a wee while ago and I think they just add the finishing touch.

Not sure if to keep this myself or give as a gift , guess if I find a friend in need it might be just the thing to help them along to a brighter time.

Anniversary wishes

I made this anniversary card using just dies alone for a change , some basic heart dies from memory box and 2 edgeable dies from die sire at crafter's companion (part on my Christmas gift from my wonderful son).

I used cream base card as its for a 14th wedding anniversary and traditional colours are gold and ivory so I used that for my monochromatic colour palette. I love how it turned out and know it will be different from all the other cards the couple will receive.

What's black,white and red?

The Christmas cracker answer would be a newspaper but in my world its three birthday cards from one die. I love this die from poppystamps makes the perfect guy birthday card and looks so different when you change the colours and can also make pretty girly cards is softer colours with added butterflies  and flowers too.

I used white , black and mirrored red card to create my 3 cards.I used different out cuts from each of the die cuts to inlay contrasting colours and I so love how they pop and the best bit is they are perfect for sending through the post too
